WMH Trip to Longleat 2006

The impressive stately manor of Lord Bath. All of the area here belongs to him and it's a LOT of land!

Still shot of the fountain outside the mansion, With a shutter speed of 1/8000th second.

Derek (our housefather) and my student Ben at the zoo-park Longleat, watching the giraffes.

Eddie, James and Ollie boarding for the train ride around the park in the beautiful sunshine.

Ben the Thomas the Tank Engine fan really enjoyed the steam train ride!

I love the colours in this photo I made in the 'Butterfly house' of the zoo. Took me 3 attempts to get it!

Ben wanders out of the guided tour of the mansion, and into the +30C temperatures outside.

Ollie and Chris admiring the 'free-range' giraffes at Longleat Park.

Ben posing for a photo outside the huge maze. We didn't attempt the maze 'cos we'd have been lost for ever!

The castle playground was impressive! and actually only for under 14's. But me and Ben were allowed inside anyway..

Another photo I made of the rare butterflies inside the sweltering +35C greenhouse.

A picture of Ben and Me (Seth) boarding for the steam-train ride which was great.

Photographing the bats in the old mine was forbidden, but I sneaked a picture anyway :)

Great photo of Ben on the train waiting for "Thomas the Tank Engine" to depart...

The two cute baby giraffes out in the park.

Imagine - a whole miniature village from the Postman-Pat books! Ben loved the figures (which all moved).

After the third trip there we started to get a little bit bored.

With a mischievous grin, Ben heads directly for the steam engine. Not sure if I should intercept him before the driver sees him.

Another colourful picture of the most enormous butterfly I ever saw. Yes it is very alive (perched on the gauze) and it took me 5 attempts to capture this shot!!

Ben clambers up onto the ancient (but real) old tractor in the postman Pat village.

Our houseparents and students Ben and Chris enjoying the sunshine near the giraffe enclosure.
